FOUR NEW INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS JOIN F4UAE AT YAS MARINA CIRCUIT FOR ROUND 2

Abu Dhabi, January 18, 2018 - Four new international drivers have joined the 2017/18 F4UAE Championship grid this weekend at Yas Marina Circuit, as the field prepares for the first of a three-back-to-back race weekends across the UAE.

Additionally, two foundation teams have expanded to three entries each, with Dragon Motopark F4 welcoming 15-year-old rookie racer from Belgium, Amaury Cordeel (#888), and SILBERPFEIL Energy Dubai also expands operations for 17-year-old Patrik Pasma (#21) who raced in British F4 last season.

Cordeel - the younger brother of Arden Motorsport's Formula Renault racer Ghislain Cordeel - will compete in the final five rounds of F4UAE in preparation for the Spanish F4 Championship which starts in April, while Pasma was teammate last year to F4UAE's reigning Rookie Champion Logan Sargeant in British F4.

David Schumacher (#27) - son of Formula 1 driver Ralf and nephew of Michael - will make his circuit racing debut with US Racing/Rasgaira Motorsports after becoming German Karting Championship vice champion last year, and will continue on for the remainder of the season. While DR Formula Racing joins the field with Eduardo Morricone (#42) from Italy, who also is debuting in circuit racing after an extensive few years in international karting. Morricone will contest Rounds 2 and 5 as preparation for the Italian F4 Championship which begins in April.

"We have worked very hard to make F4UAE a premier winter championship for open-wheeler racing and it is a great achievement to see that more drivers are now choosing to learn their racing here in the Middle East," said Mohamed Ben Sulayem, President of the ATCUAE, Chairman of the Emirates Motor Sport Federation and FIA Vice President for Sport. "We wish everyone well this weekend, especially to the rookie drivers who are making their debut at Yas Marina Circuit."

Round 2 of the 2017/18 F4UAE Championship will see Friday January 19 hold practice, qualifying and Race 1, while Races 2 to 4 will be held on Saturday January 20.

QUOTEBOOK

Amaury Cordeel, #8 Dragon Motopark F4: "I'm very much excited to be in Abu Dhabi and join F4UAE for the rest of the season. I haven't had too much experience in these cars but that is why I'm here, to learn as much as I can. Just to get more racing miles and try to improve my lap times so that I'm more experienced before I go back to Europe. Everyone at Dragon has made me feel very welcome and they're a professional team with lots of experience now in F4 so I'm looking forward to learning a lot with them."

David Schumacher, #27 US Racing/Rasgaira Motorsports: "This weekend is all about trying new things for me. While it would be great to win races it's also important to learn as much as I can about the handling of these cars, get used to the grip levels, practice my starts and just make sure I'm refining my driving as much as I can."

Patrik Pasma, #21 SILBERPFEIL Energy Dubai: "Racing against Logan [Sargeant] and Oscar Piastri in the UK was really competitive but everyone is saying good things about F4UAE and it is good to always do racing in the winter. I learnt a lot in my first season of F4 and I like that here we are racing the same cars which is helping me with more time in the seat. For sure the racing starts are something I would like to improve and I like that we do practice these at the end of the sessions, so I'm looking forward to racing here at Yas Marina Circuit."

Edoardo Morricone, #42 DR Formula Racing: "I'm happy to be at Yas Marina Circuit and make my first start in the F4 car. I only did 2 tests in the car before today so there will be a lot to learn. But Yas Marina Circuit is a fantastic circuit to start at and I hope we will have lots of good racing."
