F4UAE has today unveiled a new trophy, the GCC Nations Trophy plate, which will be award to the highest-placed finishing GCC driver for every race this season moving forward.
With each race already boasting trophies for the race podium winners and the highest placed team, F4UAE promoter AUH Motorsports has confirmed the introduction of the GCC Nations Trophy plate as an additional reward in which the GCC drivers can now compete for.
Carl Rolaston, category promoter, said the new trophy is a welcomed addition at the half way point of the championship season.
"We have been pleasantly surprised at how committed the GCC drivers have been so far to their racing programs, especially considering that they never raced open-wheelers before October last year," said Rolaston. "We always have had in place the Nations Cup title at the end of season, however, since we are very proud of the drivers improvements and how much they have learned in such a short time, we wanted to give them additional acknowledgement and encourage them to keep making great leaps in their racing development. We look forward to seeing those representing Qatar, the UAE, and any other GCC country who may participate in F4UAE in future, racing for this new award."
The 2016/17 F4UAE Nations Cup title will be awarded at season's end based on accumulated points earned by drivers of GCC nationalities, with QMMF F4 Team's Ahmad Al Muhannadi leading the GCC competition, and impressiely sits 4th outright in the overall driver standings. Other currently entered GCC drivers who are eligible for the new trophy are QMMF F4 Team's Abdulrahman Tolefat and ATCUAE's Saif Ben Sulayem. QMMF F4 Team also sits second in the F4UAE Teams Championship with Races 8 to 18 still to be run in 2017.
