[TEAM NEWS] BWT Mücke Motorsport are further extending their support of young drivers in motor racing. The Berlin-based team will compete in the FIA Formula 4 UAE from the 2017/2018 season onwards. Taken together with their involvement in the German and Italian Formula 4 series, the outfit's appearance in the Middle East will be their third association with the next generation of racers.
BWT Mücke Motorsport plan to deploy two or three cars in all races in the Formula 4 UAE and currently have cockpits free for interested drivers. At present, the race calendar will probably feature six meetings to be held at two circuits with different track layouts. F4UAE will announce full details of the race calendar soon.
As in Europe, cars will have a 1.4-litre Abarth turbocharged engine and Tatuus chassis. Italian manufacturer Tatuus developed a special cooling system last year to ensure that cars are well prepared for the high temperatures experienced in the Middle East. BWT Mücke Motorsport intend to manage the entire venture in F4UAE autonomously. With this additional commitment, the team will be able to utilise available resources to the full as far as manpower, materials and technology are concerned, drawing on in-house know-how gained from many years of experience. Containers with cars and equipment are already being shipped to the first venue at this moment in time.
By joining F4UAE, BWT Mücke Motorsport are systematically extending their support of young talent. The team are now in a position to offer European drivers from the German and Italian series driving practice and race meetings all year round. For almost 20 years, the well-established, Berlin-based outfit has taken measures to support young motor racing drivers and has made it possible in the past for young talents such as Pascal Wehrlein, Sebastian Vettel, Lucas Auer and Marco Wittmann to move up into the DTM and Formula 1.
What Peter Mücke (Team Principal) had to say: "Supporting young motor racing drivers has always been a top priority here at BWT Mücke Motorsport. As far as that goes, Formula 4 is the ideal opportunity for young drivers to go up against different competitors in various countries and develop continuously. Thanks to having the same sporting rules and regulations, as laid out by the umbrella organisation of the FIA, our drivers can prepare themselves for the summer season in Germany and Italy under realistic and comparable conditions. Joining F4UAE is the next logical step in our company philosophy."
