United Arab Emirates-based race team Dragon F4 has partnered with 2017 F4UAE team and drivers champions Team Motopark.

This new partnership sees the team entering three cars in this season's championship with the first round getting underway at Yas Marina Circuit this week from December 14-15 with drivers Charles Weerts and Lucas Roy, and a third car joining the grid from Round 2 onwards.

Dragon F4 Team Principal Brad Fincham commented: “The development of this partnership makes complete sense for Dragon F4 to build upon the solid foundations built last season with the enhanced technical expertise from the team at Motopark. This also now gives our drivers the perfect opportunity to continue their development and options to race in Europe, along with offering Motopark drivers consistency when they look to expand their racing programmes."

Team Motopark Team Principal Timo Rumpfkeil believed the partnership would significantly help grow both operations between their respective bases in the Middle East and Germany.

“We are very happy starting a long term relationship with Dragon Racing as this provides great opportunities and advantages for both sides,” said Rumpfkeil. "Last season we started the planning of this partnership and now it has come together very smoothly. After our highly successful 2016/17 in Formula 4 UAE it became clear for us that as a long term solution we needed to tie-up with a strong local based partner. Dragon has a new state of the art facility in Dubai and following our discussions on the vision for future cooperation it quickly became clear that a strong cooperation will be the way to go for both parties. We have the advantage to make full use of all their facilities and structure to provide the best levels of service and support for all drivers while competing in the UAE.

"From our side we further the experience of Dragon F4 utilising our IP from Formula 4 and single-seater racing, as well as offering staff to the programme. We are both looking forward to developing this partnership which hopefully will provide drivers to the European racing scene,” concluded Rumpfkeil.

The 2017/18 F4UAE Championship powered by Abarth features a total of 24 races over six rounds, with the championship visiting the famous Yas Marina four times and Dubai Autodrome twice. With 16 cars expected to race in 2017/18, F4UAE is rapidly becoming the go-to winter championship for many drivers.
