Reigning F4UAE drivers, teams and rookie champions Xcel Motorsport is the first team to announce drivers for the 2021 season, with three out of the firrst four drivers confirmed to make their single-seater debut.
The drivers announced so far are Dilano Van't Hoff from the Netherlands, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak from Thailand, Peruvian Matias Zagazeta, and Russian karting star Nikita Bedrin will join the Dubai-based team.
Sixteen-year-old Van't Hoff brings with him a wealth of experience in karting, having been a CIK European and WSK round winner. He's raced in senior karting for the past two seasons, with results including winning Italy’s Trofeo delle Industrie, finishing fourth in the WSK Open Cup and fifth in the CIK-FIA European championship in 2019.
"It is great to welcome Dilano into our team for 2021," said team manager Paul Hardy. "We have known and watched Dilano for many years in karting now, so we know that he is more than capable of winning races. We are looking forward to working with and developing Dilano as he makes the move into F4."
While 15-year-old Inthraphuvasak from Thailand is another karting driver, who has been runner up in the Asian Iame Series in X30 Junior in 2018, and then went on to take a podium in the DKM last year in the OKJ category. This year Tasanapol finished fourth in the Iame Asia Cup in X30 Senior. ⠀
“We are extremely happy to welcome yet another young Karting talent to our team for 2021," added team principal, Kevin Day. "Tasanapol has shown some great potential in karting and we are looking forward to developing him throughout the F4UAE Championship. Tasanapol will be joining us next week for the official F4UAE test at Dubai Autodrome. We are looking forward to getting to work.”
Zagazeta has just completed his rookie season in British F4: "We can't wait to start working with Matias in 2021. He has shown great promise in his maiden season in the British F4 Championship and we are looking forward to further developing him over the winter. With his experience and ability combined, I am sure that Matias will be a very strong competitor in F4UAE," said Hardy.
And Bedrin is without doubt one of the hottest young talents coming out of karting: "He has won multiple races at the highest possible level in karting so we know that he has all that it takes to do the same in F4! We look forward to working closely with Nikita to help him make the transition into car racing," added Day.
