Organisers of the F4UAE Championship today announce changes for this week’s support of the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit (December 9-12, 2021) due to delays some teams have faced in bringing their operations to the UAE.

The first event on the 2021/22 season calendar – albeit non-championship – has been penned all year as the widely anticipated global on-track debut of the new “second generation” T-421 Tatuus race car featuring the halo safety system

A grid of more than 20 cars was expected to race, however delays with the supply chain of parts during the manufacturing process of the new cars, plus shipping delays some teams faced with their logistics operators, has resulted in only half the grid being in the country in time to participate on the F1 support billing.

The F4UAE management team has worked continuously for most part of the year preparing for the event, while also exhausting all remaining alternative transportation options for those teams affected in the hope that something could be done to expedite the cargo. Regrettably, F4UAE organisers were at no time in control of those shipments and it has meant that the F4UAE Trophy Round will now see 10 cars on track as part of a revamped exhibition-style event to showcase the new Gen2 Tatuus F4; an important global milestone for the formula.

It is encouraging that this great event can proceed despite challenging times, and we appreciate the efforts made by teams who have been able to fly their operations to the UAE in time, as well as Tatuus for flying in additional spare parts for the event.

F4UAE organisers wish to extend their thanks to senior management at the FIA, Formula 1, Yas Marina Circuit and the EMSO for all they’ve done to accommodate the situation and allow us to debut the new race car.

In the meantime, will be doing all we can to ensure the full pitlane will be in the country in time for testing mid-month, while forging ahead this week at Yas Marina Circuit to support our competing teams. The F4UAE Trophy Round event schedule and the first confirmed driver entries will be made later today.

The five-round 2022 F4UAE Championship will begin for points starting on January 12-14, 2022 as a support to the Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai. This will be followed by shared events across both the Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina Circuit over a six-week period to conclude at the Abu Dhabi-based circuit on February 17-19, 2022.

The 2022 F4UAE Championship dates are as follows:
Round 1: January 12-14, 2022 – Dubai Autodrome
Round 2: January 20-22, 2022 – Yas Marina Circuit
Round 3: February 3-5, 2022 – Dubai Autodrome
Round 4: February 10-12, 2022 – Dubai Autodrome
Round 5: February 17-19, 2022 – Yas Marina Circuit
